Dear St. Peter’s Parents and Guardians,
I hope you’re all well. We come to the final week of Term 2 in the midst of what has now become a very cold winter.
I’d like to thank all families for your support over the past 5 weeks as I’ve stepped into the ‘Big Chair’ as Acting Principal. I’ve gained some unbelievable insights over the last few weeks into what actually has to go into being a Principal and one of my insights is that it just doesn’t work without supportive people around you. The amount of supportive messages I’ve had from parents and families has been so overwhelming and shows exactly why the St. Peter’s community is stronger than ever, so thank you all. I hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday break.
Michael Hanney Long Service Leave Extension
Michael has extended his Long Service Leave by an extra week. Michael will now return to St. Peter’s on Monday, 22nd July (Week 2 of Term 3).

On Friday, 21st June, the whole school celebrated Inspiration Day. It was a wonderful day and we thank everyone for all their effort and participation on this day.
A very big thank you to our SRC members who suggested and came up with some great ideas for this fun day. On this day the Foundation - Year 6 students were invited to dress up as someone who inspires them and they created inspirational art pieces for the Australian Olympic Team. We were very lucky to have some special visitors help celebrate our day; Moorabbin Police officers visited every classroom to say hello and helped answer any questions. We also had the Moorabbin SES visit our school as special guest speakers. Along with an engaging presentation from the SES team they were also able to show the students all the tools and features of their truck.
On Wednesday, 19th June the Year 5s went to ACMI to go see the movie WONDER because we read the book. The Year 5s found out that there are many differences between the movie and the book.
When we went in we were shocked because the movie theatre was huge. Before we started, Vincent the worker gave us a little talk to make us WONDER. The seats were so comfy that half of us almost fell asleep. The movie was fantastic and some of the Year 5s even cried at a couple of scenes. After we watched WONDER, we ate lunch at the playground in Birrarung Marr. Then we all went on a walk along the Yarra river and across two bridges.
We thank all the teachers, ACMI staff, bus drivers and parent helpers for giving the Year 5s an experience they won’t forget.

Wondering where we went on Wednesday, 19th of June? That’s right we went to ACMI! ACMI was so pretty with the comfiest seats and the biggest screen ever! If you’re wanting to know what happened after and before ACMI, read on!
On Wednesday, 19th June, the Year 5s went to ACMI. The bus ride was for an hour and we travelled to Federation Square, everyone was very excited. Once the bus dropped us off, we started walking to ACMI. It was freezing! We started walking and, surrounding us were so many tall buildings and skyscrapers.
When we reached ACMI, we ate our snack and entered the gigantic building. When we reached the cinema, it was HUGE with so many lights and soft seats. Once all of the children had sat in their seats, a man came and talked about the movie we were going to watch called Wonder.
This Semester, we read the novel and learnt all about the main character, August Pullman. It was a beautiful movie about a boy in 5th grade who does normal things but doesn’t look normal. There were some really sad scenes which made some people cry but we got through it.
After the fantastic movie, we went for a walk along the Yarra River but before that, we enjoyed our lunch and played on the playground. Once we started walking along the river we all noticed that it was very dirty and we only saw a few ducks. We also walked across a few bridges and enjoyed the spectacular view.
Overall, all the Year 5’s had an amazing time and loved the movie even when it was freezing outside. From the book and movie we learned a really important thing to remember that when given the choice between right or kind choose kind.

ST PETER'S TRIVIA NIGHT - Saturday, 15th June What a night!
Our Denim and Diamond-themed Trivia Night was an absolute gem of an evening!
A huge thank you to everyone who slipped on their jeans, got decked out in diamonds and joined us on Saturday for some trivia and photo booth fun… and a special shoutout to our sponsor, Melbourne Orthodontic Group (MOG), for their support of our annual Trivia Night over the last 10 years.
A massive thank you to Katrina Dimitriu for organising this wonderful event for our community once again (it was #9 for her). With Efthimia in Year 6, this was the last time that Katrina will lead the trivia night...the P&F will have huge shoes to fill. We sincerely thank Katrina for all her time and effort over the years. It was absolutely fitting that Katrina's table was able to pull off the victory on the night. Thank you once again Katrina!
