TRISH TICCA RETIREMENT
After 28 years at St Peter’s and 16 years as Office Manager and Enrolments Officer Trish Ticca has advised me that she will finish at St Peter’s at the end of the 2024 school year. This is exciting for Trish and her family and a big change for St Peter’s. This is an incredible loss for St Peter’s but a well deserved end to an amazing career. We will be able to celebrate and thank Trish before the end of this year.
NEW PRINCIPAL APPOINTMENT
I have been asked by the MACS Southern Regional manager to share with you an update on the Principal appointment process.
Dear Parents/Guardians
I wish to provide an update on the appointment process for the Principal of St Peter’s East Bentleigh commencing in 2025. The position will be re-advertised in the coming weeks.
This is not an unusual action during a principal appointment process, as re-advertising can secure a broader field of suitable candidates.
I will keep you informed of the process as we proceed in Term 4.
Deb Egan
Regional Manager: South
I am pleased that the leaders at MACS are not forcing a result and are extending the process to ensure the right candidate for our community becomes available. Deb Egan and Deb Darvell, who are running the process for MACS will continue to keep us informed.
LAND UPDATE
Steph Hunt, Chris Joplin and I met with the project managers on Wednesday and reviewed the tenders submitted. In consultation with the project managers we have instructed them which direction we wish them to take. The next step should be quick with work starting shortly and a predicted end date of late November. We are very excited about what we will have in place before the end of the school year.
STUDENTS LEAVING
As we begin the final term for the year we start to plan for 2025. If your child will not be returning to St Peter’s in 2025 I ask that you let me know by the end of October to enable us to plan properly and create the right class structures for next year.
WELCOME NEW FAMILIES
We welcome three new families to St Peter’s this term.
Mia Bezuidenhoudt 4OG and her family
Mila Picking 5MH and her family
Aleena Abdalla 5AC
Aya Abdalla 3GJ
Amira Abdalla 2AM and
Ameen Abdalla FMB and their family
We look forward to all they will bring to St Peter’s.
2025 TEACHERS - For your information
With four teachers retiring at the end of this year we have begun the process for employing new teachers for 2025. We advertised at the end of last term and received thirty four applications. Chris Joplin, Steph Hunt and I have shortlisted and will be interviewing this week. I could ask you to say a prayer or cross your fingers but I have great faith that we will be blessed with new teachers as the quality of applicants is very high. Our reputation in the Catholic education community is very good and results in quality applicants for positions we advertise. I will update you once appointments are completed.
YEAR 4 CAMP THANK YOU
A huge thank you to the staff who stepped up and covered duties and other responsibilities when staff were attending the Year Four Camp last week. I wish to acknowledge Mandi Mackey who led this camp so well, an amazing job. Finally to Chris Joplin, Jess Mair, Liz Opie, Louise Van Corler, Maddy Rogers, Michelle Knight, Mimi Hunter, Tess Parisotto, Silvana Merola and Simran Patel for their sacrifice and commitment. I was able to spend the Thursday and Thursday night at camp and enjoyed spending lots of time with the Year Four classes. Camps are fun but not easy. Finally I wish to thank Ben Cavarra for all his pre camp bookings.
END OF TERM FOUR
The last compulsory day for students this term will be Friday, 13th December. On this day we will celebrate our end of year school Mass at 10:00am and our final assembly will be at 2:30pm with school finishing at 3:20pm.
Monday, 16th and Tuesday, 17th December are optional days. On these days students will attend if it is your wish as parents and guardians. On these days students are required to wear school uniform and will participate in activities within their levels. School will finish at 3:20pm on both of these days.
SCHOOL FEES
I am very grateful for the families who have paid all their fees or up to date with their payment plans. Fee reminders were sent out last week and I ask any families with outstanding fees to action their reminders in a timely manner. We currently have 28% of our fees still outstanding. If you need to meet with me to discuss your fees please email fees@spbentleigheast.catholic.edu.au This email is only viewed by me and Loretta Ballas our Finance officer. Thank you in advance for your action.
JOY OF PRINCIPALSHIP
Last week I was invited to attend OLSH College and St Bede's College 2024 Junior Production of Matilda. It was a very impressive performance and a credit to the students and staff. In Foundation, we have been exploring the concept of length in our Mathematics lessons. We have learned that length is when we measure how long or short something is. To measure length we know that we can use tools like rulers, feet, or even blocks!
To put our new knowledge into action we traced our bodies with chalk and used unifix cubes to find the length of our arms, legs, and heads. We had a lot of fun practising measuring.

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month is a moment not only to pause and remember all those who have served and sacrificed in wars and conflicts across the world, but also to reflect on the historical events that led to this day of significance.
Originally announced to mark the anniversary of the Armistice that ended fighting with Germany in World War I, Remembrance Day today gives us all the opportunity to acknowledge the service personnel who died while serving in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.
From tomorrow, Tuesday, 15th October leading up to the 11th November we will be selling merchandise for our local RSL every morning in the Breezeway. Poppies and other merchandise will be available for $2, $3, $4 & $5.
Please support this worthy cause.
