LOVE
If there is one word which sums up everything in the New Testament it surely must be the word LOVE.
May I suggest to you that you spend two minutes reflecting upon the unconditional love which God has for you. This love manifested through your family, friends and other loved ones.
As you reflect watch this very short video.

A LETTER TO THE PARISH FROM FATHER JACOB
Dear All,
It’s been 9 months since I was appointed to Holy Trinity Parish, as your Parish Priest. Firstly, I wish to thank you for the openness, the warmth, and the hospitality that has been extended to me since my arrival. You have made my transition into Holy Trinity Parish so much less stressful and overwhelming. So again, I thank you.
Holy Trinity Parish, comprised of the communities of St Peter’s, St Paul’s and St Catherine’s, is like no other parish in the Melbourne Archdiocese. It is geographically large, complex, with communities that have different histories, experiences, and expressions of being Catholic. It is a unique community that, through Fr. Michael’s vision, unites around a mission of being welcoming, open, and hospitable to all that wish to be part of the community. We are respectful and forgiving. And we are consultative in our decision making.
To that last point, being consultative in decision making, is why I am talking with you today.
Our focus as a Catholic community is always on the spiritual support and nourishment of you, our parishioners. But to deliver the masses and liturgies, sacraments, support of the poor, visitations of the sick, and education of our children requires a not-insignificant organisational structure and support team.
Holy Trinity Parish has an operational structure that is different to any other that I have seen or experienced. And this difference made sense given the unique structure of our Parish.
However, after 9 months of living Holy Trinity Parish and understanding the nuances, and how things have operated, it’s now time to step back, take stock and understand how we best position Holy Trinity Parish for the next phase of growth. Understand how we best optimise the people and resources that make up our community.
To that end, I have engaged an external consultancy, Dench McClean Carlsson, to undertake a review of Holy Trinity Parish. Commencing this coming week, and running for up to 6 weeks, the consultancy will undertake an organisational and strategic review of our Parish.
The overall aim of the review is to assess the current status of the Parish, document any critical issues for immediate attention and recommend actions for improvement, identify the key issues for the future and the potential paths forward.
The review will identify areas for optimisation of the current operating model, organisation structure and utilisation of Parish assets (including property assets) to secure the ongoing viability of the Parish and minimise any risks.
I wish to be very clear that this review will not cover the clerical elements of our Parish. That is, the review will not be looking at the model of priests in the parish, nor mass times and locations. That’s not to say that we shouldn’t also look at these elements in time, but
I wish to reassure you that this review is a normal process for complex organisations to undertake at regular intervals, or following periods of major change, to identify opportunities for potential improvement, or areas where things are not working as well as they could.
I also have been strongly supported in my desire to undertake this review. Your Pastoral Leadership Team has been involved in the development of the review, and the review and it’s scope has been strongly support by the Vicar General of the Archdiocese. In fact, Monsignor Greg Bennett is hopeful that our review will become the ‘standard’ for other parishes to adopt.
I am sure you will have a few questions about the review, so a member of the Pastoral Leadership Team will say a few words after this video and will be around after Mass to discuss the review with you, if you wish. And of course, I welcome you reaching out to me, as well, should you wish to discuss the review.
In summing up, I’m excited about the opportunities for growth which exist in our great parish. But to enable us to continue, and expand, the way we minister to our community, it’s time to better understand any challenges which lie in front of us, and to explore the opportunities for optimisation.
Father Raju Jacob MST

YEAR 4 EXCURSION TO MOONLIT SANCTUARY
Our Excursion to Moonlit Sanctuary
On Friday the 13th of May the Year 4 students went on a trip to Moonlit Sanctuary.
We saw lots of amazing animals, and got to have once in a lifetime experiences. We hopped on the bus, ready for a long ride to the sanctuary. Once we got there, we had some snack and got ready to start exploring. We got split into our classes and found our teachers, before gathering to hear the instructions. The students needed to stay quiet and not harm the animals. Then we went on 4 rotations, the first one was the kangaroo\wallaby walk, where the students got to feed and pat the wallabies and kangaroos alongside our teachers.
The second rotation was a carnivore tour, where the students got to marvel and learn about the carnivores with our very knowledgeable guide, Wendy. She talked us though all that we needed to know about Dingoes, Tasmanian Devils and an unusual mammal, the Spot-Tailed Quoll.
After that, the third rotation took us on a journey with May, who taught us about the wonderful feathers and fur, and helped us to understand what the conservation status meant, and how we can look after our backyard animals. Lots of children loved animals like the Koala and the Hairy Nosed Wombat, but were surprised by some birds like the yellow tailed cockatoo.
The last rotation was a meet and greet with some scaly reptiles in the classroom. We met some Lizards, some Amphibians and even got to pat a Jungle Python! After all the classes had rotated between the 4 activities, we had our lunch and got to explore more of the sanctuary. After that, we tiredly came back on the bus, ready for a big long rest. Best Excursion Ever!

YEAR 4 VOTING IN SCHOOL ACTIVITY
On Monday the 20th of May we had an In School Activity with the A.E.C (Australian Electoral Commision). I learned a lot about what they do to help in the election. The lady was called Amy and she asked us some questions and the first question was a little bit tricky. She asked us “Who do you think we help when there is an election?” The answers were things like homeless people, elderly folk, people with disabilities, citizens who had just turned 18 and many more.
Next we played a game. The game was where Amy said something and we had to go to one side of the room if it was important, the other side of the room if it was not so important or in the middle if it was fifty/fifty. She said things like “do you think voting is important?” “Is changing your mind for who you voted for important” and things similar to that. Then she asked us why we chose that option.
After that we did a vote. First we had a discussion about all the different parties. The parties were Sporting Party, Recycling Party, Free Fruit Party, Healthy Minds Party and Playground Party. We got to put the numbers in the boxes like a real vote. In the end the winning team was….Recycling Party.
I had so much fun at this activity and I thank all the teachers who organised the fun time that I had. I also thank Amy and A.E.C who were able to go out of their way to teach us about voting and the election.

ST. PETER'S FOODBANK
Thank you to all the volunteers that have cooked for us in the past few weeks.
St. Peter’s Primary School Food Bank was established in 2013 with families volunteering to cook meals for other families in the school community during a time of need. Whether there is illness, hospitalisation of a family member, bereavement, the arrival of a new baby, moving house or even if someone is in need of a little extra TLC, the Food Bank can help.
We would like to invite parents to consider becoming one of our volunteer cooks. We anticipate each volunteer would only be required to cook 2-3 times per year. Of course, you are welcome to cook more often if you like.
We also encourage you to think about your friends and classmates at the school and keep the Food Bank in mind if they are going through a tough time. It is a completely confidential service and you can access it through us or through a staff member at St. Peter’s. If you would like more information about the service or volunteering, please download our electronic brochure below.
We are looking for some new parents to sign up as volunteers to start cooking for our Food Bank. We love to have as many volunteers in our Food Bank pool as possible.
If you have not cooked for our Food Bank before, please ensure you email us prior to cooking, at sppsfoodbank@spbentleigheast.catholic.edu.au, and ask us for a Food Bank information pack.
If you become aware of someone in the school community needing a little help or TLC, please contact us. You can contact us confidentially at: sppsfoodbank@spbentleigheast.catholic.edu.au or call Karina Clement 0404 057 522 or Katrina Chapman 0488 386 088 (Program Co-ordinators) or your class teacher, school office or Michael Hanney directly.
