NATIONAL SIMULTANEOUS STORY TIME
On Wednesday the 19th of May a few students from Year 6 participated in the Simultaneous Storytime. They all listened to 'Give me Some Space' read by a real life astronaut, Shannon Walker, who is in space right now.
It is about a little girl who dreams of being an astronaut when she is older. She tries many ways to get to space and eventually gets there. Her mission was to find life in space. After looking for hours she sees a tiny blue speck in the distance. She floats towards it and she sees that it is her home planet. Earth.
After the story everyone did activities such as drawing themselves in little spaceships and coloured them in, colouring in little rocket ships and sticking straws to the bottom of them and the last activity was making rockets out of paper and glue. Everyone had so much fun doing the activities and listening to the astronaut.
Khwaish, Hannah & Isabelle A - 6SH
On Wednesday the 19th of May, Foundation, Grade 1 and Grade 2 took part in the National Simultaneous Storytime. Some of the Grade 6's went to either the Year One, Two or Foundation classrooms to show them a book and activity.
They read a story called ‘Give me some Space’. It was read by an astronaut who was all the way in the International Space Station. The book was about a little girl who was super bored on Earth, so she made a mission, set by herself, to find life on another planet so she went into space and explored all the planets.
After doing some exploring she realised that Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Mercury were all really great but not as good as Earth. She realised that Earth was her home and that it was more interesting than ever.
All of the grade levels took part in an activity. Foundation coloured a sheet with a drawing of them in it. The Grade 1’s made straw rockets with a straw and a coloured in rocket. The Grade 2’s made rockets out of card and decorated them.
Overall Foundation, Grade 1 and Grade 2 enjoyed National Simultaneous Reading Day. It was really great and we would like to thank Mrs McKee for organising this for us.

FRONT CAR PARK
When parking parallel to blue lines if the blue line ends at the church end of the car park so does parking. If people park past this line then they can block the walking path for children / families that runs parallel with the fence line.
FLORENCE STREET PARKING
Thank you to the families who are following through and obeying all parking and U Turn signs on Florence Street. The improvement has been quick but must be maintained.

CROSS COUNTRY
Well done to the St Peter's Cross Country Team on a great effort at the Bentleigh District Cross Country last Tuesday. St Peter's finished 4th overall in a very close finish. The students should be proud of their performance and the way they conducted themselves which was again praised by teachers from other schools. I would like to thank Sarah Logan, Michelle Knight and Sam Stasiak for their assistance with training. Without staff helping out the students could not prepare properly for this event. Thank you also to parents for bringing their child to all the training sessions.
Congratulations to Sadie Howe, Tom Foley, Isla Van Hoos, Holly Kearney, Mia Bates, Will Scalzi and Ryan Werny who finished in the top 8 and now continue to the Beachside Division Championship on the 1st June. Good luck at Division to all these students!!
STATE TRIALS
Well done to Noah Montgomery (6SH) on his outstanding performance so far in the State AFL trials. Noah has successfully gone through the Division and Regional Levels and will now go to the Team Vic 12&U Boys Australian Football State Trial - Metro. Given the number of students participating in AFL this is a great achievement and we wish him well at the next level.
ATHLETIC TRIALS
Our trials for Term 3 Athletics are now completed except if any Year 3-6 students were away or injured they will have one last chance to trial on Friday, 28th May during school time. Students can either wear sports uniform or bring runners if they wish to trial for an event they missed on this day.
WINTER SPORT
Winter Sport continues this week with a game against St Paul's. Please remember all details for fixtures and venues can be found on the Bentleigh District website below:
https://websites.sportstg.com/assoc_page.cgi?c=1-4215-0-0-0&sID=49019
The only details not listed on the site are that our Mixed AFL Team will play a practise game against Coatesville in Round 7 due to Oakleigh Grammar not having a team and our Girls AFL will play Oakleigh South in a one off game on Monday, 7th June to decide who represents the district at Division. Both these games start at 11:30am at Centenary Park.
