RETURN TO SCHOOL
Your children are to be commended on how they have approached this return to online learning. IT IS NOT EASY and the staff and I are aware of how challenging it is. I would particularly like to congratulate our Foundation students who have, in their first experience of online learning, been very impressive.
A special thanks goes to you as parents and guardians for your support. I look forward to a return to normality as soon as possible.
Once we are updated as to what will be happening at the end of this period of lockdown I will be contacting all families via email. This will take place on Thursday the 10th of June and will include an update of all changes for the remainder of the term.
WEBINAR - Melbourne in Lockdown 4.0: Tips for Managing as a Family
In past years we have organised for Carly McGauran and Marty McGuaran to run workshops for our families. With lockdown upon us we took the opportunity to subscribe to a webinar supporting families through lockdown. A number of families registered and viewed the webinar last night. For those who couldn't make it I have attached the link to the webinar for parents to watch in their own time. There were some good tips on how to manage during any challenging times that can be used now and at other challenging times.
Melbourne in Lockdown 4.0: Tips for Managing as a Family
OUT OF SOMETHING BAD
During last night’s webinar Carly shared the very popular video of the baby laughing. I had seen it before but did not realise that the paper that was being torn was a letter to the dad telling him he had been unsuccessful in obtaining a job. The ripping of the letter was a way for the dad to express his frustration and it resulted in a youtube clip that makes you laugh and has brought a smile to over 110 million viewers. Finding joy in the frustrating is quite amazing.
PASTORAL LETTER: TAKE THE WAY OF THE GOSPEL
Archbishop Peter has written a pastoral letter, Take the Way of the Gospel: Re-imagining our local Church as mission communities, to the faithful of Melbourne, inviting the Church into a conversation on how we might come together and discern our common mission for the years ahead.
The letter is inspired by Pentecost and the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic, and is a call for a renewal of the missionary vision and discipleship of the Church in the Archdiocese of Melbourne.
This task, which Archbishop Peter has said will involve all of us, is summarised by three questions:
- Where might be the local missions of our Archdiocese today?
- Which parishes might organically fit together to form a family of communities?
- How might we better resource these missions – spiritually, ministerially and material
MONEY FOR CANTEEN
It has come to my attention that some students are coming to the canteen to buy things over the counter with $20 notes. I appreciate that on occasions this may be that they are bringing change home but in some cases they want to spend all the money. When we return to school we will be strictly enforcing the rule that students cannot buy food for any friends. If children are asking for more money because they want to buy something for a friend you can remind them that this is not allowed.
SIGNING IN AT SCHOOL
From 28 May, schools must use the Victorian Government QR Code Service through the Service Victoria app to keep records of visitors and external guests to school premises. This will mean some changes to how visitors sign in.
Visitors will need to sign in if at school for more than 15 minutes. There are three options: via QR code (registered with the Department of Health), using our IPad sign in or pen and paper sign in.
Sign in sheet, Ipad and QR code will only be located in the office.
Parents/visitors will not need to sign in if:
Picking up/dropping off your child if they are sick
Waiting with your child on the playground before school or after school
Joining your child’s class for prayer and mediation.
