ALL STUDENTS BACK AT SCHOOL
Next Wednesday the 3rd of November all students return to school on a full time basis and it will be brilliant to have them back at school where they can learn face to face with their teachers surrounded by their friends. This is a very exciting day that comes with joy for most but for some of our students and families there is a level of anxiety. I can assure all our families that your staff, the staff of St Peter’s, are ready to support every child as they return to school.
Please read the following very carefully. If you know what is going on then you will instill confidence in your child.
Drop Off and Pick Up
- With all students returning next week I am asking that all families drop off and pick up at one of the gates on Florence Street or the gate on Kaniva Court or at the front car park. For next week I am asking that families do not enter school grounds. This will allow us a smooth transition. We will review this next week to determine what we will do moving forward.
- Even though Masks are not required outdoors from 6:00pm tomorrow they are encouraged in crowded situations. When dropping off and picking up please wear a mask and maintain a 1.5 metre distance from other adults.
- Children will exit from the same gate they entered unless you have made alternative arrangements with your child and your child is old enough to remember this.
Mask Wearing
Students in Years Three, Four, Five and Six are required to wear a mask unless their parents have advised me of the need for an exemption. Children in Year Three, Four, Five and Six whose parents have not advised me of an exemption will be asked to wear a mask. Any exemptions need to be communicated to me via feedback@spbentleigheast.catholic.edu.au. We will have masks for children who have forgotten to bring one. Wearing a mask for Foundation, Year One and Year Two students is encouraged by the health authorities but is not compulsory. Staff will not be speaking to any student in the Junior School who is not wearing a mask about wearing a mask.
The teachers are providing numerous Covid safe, mask free opportunities throughout the day.
Device Return
If you have a St Peter’s device at home you are asked to send it back to school with your child on Wednesday the 3rd of November. They will stay in the classroom until Chris Joplin our ICT leader processes their return to student use.
PE Lessons next week - Sport Uniform to be worn
Wednesday - Year Six MH, Six SH, Six FG, 3IK, 3MR
Thursday - All Year Twos, 4JK, 5PH and all Year Sixes
Friday - If your class teachers advised you via email
Canteen
With everyone back at school the Canteen will be available for ordering and across the counter purchasing next Thursday, 4th and Friday, 5th.
Uniform
Students should now be in Summer Uniform. If you are still missing some items do not stress. Do the best you can, even if it is a Sports Uniform. School hats need to be worn at recess and lunchtime.
Unwell Students
Everyone should consider their child’s health before they attend school and ensure that their child is free from coronavirus symptoms and has not had contact with a person confirmed to have coronavirus or a person suspected to have coronavirus. Any student who becomes unwell with COVID-19 symptoms while at school will return home and be advised to obtain a Covid test.
The symptoms to watch out for are:
- loss or change in sense of smell or taste
- fever
- chills or sweats
- cough
- sore throat
- shortness of breath
- runny nose
Some people may also experience headache, muscle soreness, stuffy nose, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. Students experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should get tested and stay home until they receive a test result.
