Bring a picnic and join us at St Peter’s Family Picnic Night, at school on Friday 18 March, 5.00pm to 7.30pm.
Pack a picnic basket and come along to meet other school families in a casual and relaxed atmosphere as we all enjoy a picnic dinner on the school grounds.
There will be a sausage sizzle ($2.50) and Ormond Ice Creamery will be on site if you’d like to buy a sweet treat.
We will have kid friendly games and activities including face painting and hair braiding.
Our local AFL and Netball Teams will be there, and even the second-hand uniform shop will be open if you’d like to purchase something for Term Two.
Bring your picnic rug or chairs, and a picnic basket of yummy food and drinks (no alcohol) to enjoy a family friendly catchup at school.
If you'd like to volunteer to help with the sausage sizzle, face painting or hair braiding we'd love to hear from you! Please email pnf1@spbentleigheast.
EASTER EGG RAFFLE
After the success of last year’s Easter Raffle, the P&F will again be running this initiative, this time in partnership with our Year 6’s! As part of their leadership role and focus on social justice, the Year 6 students will be supporting the coordination of the raffle and as a result half of the funds raised will be donated to the Royal Childrens’ Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
Given the very worthy cause, we would be very grateful if you would support this initiative by kindly donating a chocolate Easter Egg towards the raffle. Big eggs, small eggs, mini eggs, chocolate bunnies or even a monetary donation; the choice is yours! All donations received will be used to create Easter Chocolate Hampers and used as raffle prizes, so please donate anything that you would be happy to receive.
We ask that all donations be left at the school office (or via your child’s classroom) by Wednesday, 16th March.
Raffle books will then be distributed to all families during the week beginning 21st March.
Each raffle book will consist of 10 tickets, each priced at $2. You may wish to purchase the whole book or get family, friends and/or neighbours involved and ask them for their support by purchasing a ticket (or two!). Additional raffle books can be requested from Trish in the office.
The raffle will be drawn in the final week of Term One in time for delivery before school ends for first term.
We look forward to working with the Year 6’s and together we thank you in advance for your assistance.
In an attempt to streamline communication with families we will be moving to only sending online communications home once a day. The only exceptions being any COVID updates or anything urgent. Our communications will be sent at around 3:00pm each day. This change will hopefully allow families to not have to worry about checking emails throughout the day. If there are other ways you believe we can be improving communication please email Monica Bramich, our Community Engagement leader mbramich@spbentleigheast.catholic.edu.au
FRONT CARPARK - GATE OPENS AT 3.15pm - DON'T COME EARLY!!
We are one week into changing the opening of the front carpark to 3:15pm and the transition has been fairly smooth. The only ones still arriving too early are grandparents or older relatives. If you have someone picking up your children after school you must remind them that the gate will not open until 3:15pm and that waiting queues in Centre Road are not allowed.
Thank you to John Camfield (Imogen 2OG and Jemima 4RB) and Adam McDowall (Maddie 5GR and Chloe 4MK) for organising last Thursday’s Dad’s catch up. Over forty dads turned up taking advantage of being able to gather in a social setting. Keep your eye out for the next dad’s event and plans for other catch ups during the year.
On Monday, world-renown performer and songwriter Andrew Chinn came to St Peter’s for a series of workshops with the students. Known for his songs “Rainbow”, “These Hands” and “Rise Up”, Andrew had the kids singing, dancing and laughing through the mini concerts. It was great to see the children involved - whether Foundation or Year 6 - and they had an absolute blast joining in with the songs. Here are some photos from the day!

TUESDAY, 8th MARCH
Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.
Dear Families,
Tomorrow, Tuesday, 8th March is International Women's Day. To celebrate, acknowledge and #breakthebias around gender equality we are inviting all students, boys and girls to wear their Sports Uniform on Tuesday with a touch of white or purple.
This could be: a purple or white t-shirt, socks, shorts, scrunchies, badges, socks, scarf, clips, ribbons (in hair or pinned to clothes).
International Women's Day provides an important opportunity for teachers, parents and caregivers to educate and inspire children about gender equality.
Let's celebrate women's achievements, challenge gender stereotypes and discrimination.
Let's #breakthebias

Hi I’m Immy and I’m Annabel,
We're writing to talk to you about International Women's Day. Every year international women's commences on the 8th of March. This day symbolises women all around the world. International Women's Day started in 1911 when lots of women were fighting to be able to have the right to vote.
This year's theme for International Women's Day is # Break the Bias. This day means a lot to young girls and women like us because it symbolises that finally there is equality in the world for women. Hey, also feel free to wear purple or white on Tuesday, maybe just a t-shirt, scrunchie or something similar.
Here is a short clip to explain some more
