ART IN THE BREEZEWAY
Thank you Cate Sanders our Creative Arts Teacher for the latest Art installation in the Breezeway. It features a beautiful artistic representation of our Keys to Success values.
EVACUATION / LOCK DOWN DRILLS
As advised in the last newsletter we practised Lockdown and Evacuation Drills last Friday including an evacuation off site to Centenary Park. The staff and students are to be congratulated on the sensible ways they approached these drills.
WINDCHEATERS /JACKETS - Lost Property
We currently have forty windcheaters in our lost property cupboard. If they have names, the names are unreadable or belong to students who are no longer at St Peter’s, nor do they have siblings at St Peter’s. If you are missing a windcheater / jacket you are welcome to check out the lost property. Anything still in lost property at the end of term will be donated to the Second Hand Uniform Shop. I would also recommend that you make sure your child’s windcheater is named in at least two places.
MEMORIAL GARDEN - GRILL’D LOCAL MATTERS
In memory of Ange D’Amelio we are creating a memorial garden on the Florence Street side of the Foundation classrooms. The Foundation and Year Two families have donated the money raised from their nights at Lollipops to go towarsds the Memorial Garden.
We have been successful in securing a Local Matters Jar at Grill’d Carnegie for July!
Local Matters is an initiative where customers receive tokens when they place an order to “vote” for the cause they consider most worthy. At the end of the month the jar with the most tokens receives $300 and the 2nd & 3rd are given $100 each. One of the jars is dedicated to raising funds for the Memorial Garden for Ange D’Amelio. If heading to Grill’d please make sure you vote for the Memorial Garden.

Year 3 - Year 6: 5PH
Throughout Term 2, the Year 3-6 students have been working on their Year Level Performances. This will be the first time in several years that the students will be performing for a live audience, and we are very excited!
The Year 3 and 4 Performances will be held on Wednesday, 15th June
- Year 3 Performance @ 6.00pm
- Year 4 Performance @ 7.00pm
The Year 5 and 6 Performances will be held on Wednesday, 22nd June
- Year 5 Performance @ 6.00pm
- Year 6 Performance @ 7.00pm
I know the students have been working hard on learning their lines, and are excited to be able to hit the stage and showcase their work.
We ask that students arrive at 3EM (Miss McNamara’s Room) 15 minutes prior to their start time, already in their show outfits (the students know what they are to wear). They enter via the Breezeway and then to the outside door off “The Street Playground”.
We also ask that you do not arrive any earlier than 15 minutes prior to the performance. The hall door will remain locked until students have moved backstage in preparation for their performance.
We look forward to seeing you on the show nights!

On Monday. 30th of May, the Year 3s went on a one hour trip to CERES for an excursion.
The focus for the excursion was to learn about Ecosystems, Sustainability and Biodiversity.
When we arrived we did the Sound Map activity where we learnt about about ecosystems, identified biodiversity and played Bio Bingo. Then we had fruit.
Our second activity was learning about Habitats and Tree Levels: the Leaf Litter, Understory, Canopy and Emergent Layer. Then we had our snack.
Our last activity was the Platypus game, the Sacred Kingfisher and making Insect Hotels. A highlight of going to CERES was the Habitat Game.

On Monday, 30th of May the Year 3s went on a one hour bus ride to CERES for an excursion.
The focus for the excursion was to learn about Ecosystems, Sustainability and Biodiversity. When we arrived we had a fruit break and it started to rain.
Our first activity was making a sound map and learning about Ecosystems and Biodiversity. We also played a fun game called Bio Bingo.
For the second activity we learnt about Ecosystems and Habitat Levels. We also learnt about what Wominjeka means (to come with purpose) and the Wurundjeri people.
Our last activity was the Platypus Game and the Sacred Kingfisher Game. We made Insect Hotels in groups and it was lots of fun.
Overall, I think the day was tiring and fun because we got to do so many activities.

The Marine Incursion - 1st of June
Today is going to be a fun day because we are going to an Incursion. My favourite thing was the Star Fish. Did you know?... that all of the Star Fishes dots are its eyes!!
I loved when I got to hold the Sea Urchin. There was a Sea Cucumber that cleans the sand.
