As we head into the second half of this term we have a number of events and celebrations coming up. I have detailed below what is planned for the next three weeks. Please read carefully, especially the need for a Father’s Day Breakfast Co-ordinator for this event to be able to go ahead this year.
Students will bring home another box of rapid tests today. These are being supplied to St Peter's and are better as a resource for families to use as needed rather than being stored at school. If you do not want the rapid tests please send them back to school unopened.
If your child or a member of your family tests positive to Covid please use the feedback@spbentleigheast.catholic.edu.au email address to notify me.
If you have any queries about anything included in this newsletter please email me at principal@spbentleigheast.catholic.edu.au
YEAR 4, 5 & 6 MOVIE NIGHT - Friday, 19th of August
Our Parents and Friends have organised the Movie Night for our Year Four, Five and Six children this Friday, 19th August. The movie will start at 6:00pm and pick up will be at 8:00pm.
Details of the movie and what to bring will be emailed directly to families of children in Years Four, Five and Six tomorrow.
BOOK WEEK - 20th to 26th August
Book Week is celebrated in Australia between the 20th and 26th of August. The theme this year is “Dreaming with eyes open……” This theme acknowledges Australia's First Nations People and their rich story based culture.
At St Peter’s teachers share with their class a number of activities featuring the short list of picture books of the year nominations throughout the week. The week concludes with our Book Week Parade at 9:00am on Friday, 26th August. This takes place, weather permitting on Casey. If it's raining then the parade will take place in the hall.
Families are invited to watch the parade and the front car park will stay open until the end of the parade.
For the parade students are invited to dress up as a book character. Sometimes children need to change out of their costumes after the parade and if that is the case they can pack casual clothes to change into.
FATHER’S DAY BREAKFAST CO-ORDINATOR REQUIRED - 31st August
At this stage the Father’s Day Breakfast planned for Wednesday, 31st August is in doubt. Our Parents and Friends association requires someone to co-ordinate this event. The co-ordinator will have the support of the Parents and Friends association and members of St Peter’s Leadership and Administration. If you are willing to take on the co-ordination of this event please email our Parents and Friends executive at pnf1@spbentleigheast.catholic.edu.au
If we do not have a volunteer by tomorrow, Wednesday, 17th August, the Father’s Day Breakfast will be cancelled for 2022. If this occurs then we will look at a different Father / Child event in Term Four.

Semester One has been a very busy time for sustainability around St Peter’s. The incredible 4MM Class began the year by inspiring us to do better with our bin system. They kept reminding us that we need to recycle more often.
Wonder Bread Packaging Recycling
We also began collecting plastic bags from all of our bread products.
If we collect enough we could win play equipment for the school.
Colgate Terracycle
We could also win rewards if we collect and recycle all of our teeth cleaning products.
Playground News
Earlier this term the wonderful people of Moongala offered us a Cubby House for our playground. Last weekend the Camfield, McCraken, Moloney and Wood-Bradley families came and moved it to the wood area for the children to use. There were many smiling happy faces playing in it during the week.
Officeworks
St Peter’s has partnered with Officeworks. This is not only to collect our used pens and pencils for recycling but also Offiiceworks were extremely impressed with the incredible recycled art the children have been making at St Peter’s and wanted to showcase it as part of their sustainability initiative.
