SUSTAINABLE LEADERSHIP

I would like to thank and acknowledge the work of Chris Joplin, our Deputy Principal, who stepped up to be Acting Principal during my absence over the last three weeks due to illness. He was supported by a wonderful Leadership Team and the whole staff. An effective organisation needs to be able to continue on when different members are unavailable. The last three weeks has shown us that although there will be an impact on staff workloads everything continues on as smoothly as normal at St Peter’s when change is required.

BUILDER REQUIRED

I am in need of a builder to install a bank of windows in a wall to provide natural light to a storage space. If you are a builder or know of a builder who can quote and possibly complete this work for us please email me at principal@spbentleigheat.catholi.edu.au

PRE ELECTION VOTING

The Lighthouse Hall, next to St Peter’s Church is to be used as an early voting centre for the upcoming State Election on the 26th of November. Early voting will be available in the fortnight leading up to the election

School families and staff and parishioners will have the convenience and ease of pre voting at the Lighthouse Hall.

As you prepare to vote in the upcoming election there is a great deal to consider for every voter. SPIKEBALL

Thanks to the P&F funding, St Peter's students have been enjoying playing 'Spikeball' on our recently purchased nets. The Spikeball sets were purchased to give the students extra playing options during recess and were also used in PE to assist the students in learning the game.

REMEMBRANCE DAY - 11th NOVEMBER

The Eleventh day of November has been known as Remembrance Day in Australia since the end of World War II, but was originally called Armistice Day in 1919. At first, it was meant to specifically honour the heroes and fallen of World War I, but today, it is aimed at honouring all soldiers who fought and died for their country in years gone by.

Remebrance Day Merchandise will be available to purchase at the school this week. Poppies and other items are available for $2, $4, $5 & $10

In the meantime keep Active by Walking, Riding or Scootering to school whenever you can!!

Don't forget to have your cards clipped whenever you walk, ride or scooter to school and return your completed cards to the office to receive a new one.

In Year One we are having a ball learning all about Fairy Tales. We're making many things including a new chair for Baby Bear, shoes for the Elves and the Shoemakers and our dream castles.

On Thursday, 27th October Year Three went to the Australian Centre of the Moving Image (ACMI) to be immersed in all things creativity and animation.

The day started with a lecture in a special theatre room in which Educator Ellen taught us all about the history of animation and moving images and the best ways to make your own movie. Did you know a Thaumatrope was a fun toy kids would play with in the early 19th century? And that stop motion animation that features photos of people is called Pixelation?

After the lecture we ate our snack and recharged before exploring the free exhibition, 'The Story of the Moving Image'. Highlights were Thor's hammer, making a flip book and adding sound effects to a Round the Twist scene.

A big thank you to all extra staff and parents who helped out!

Our P&F Committee is looking towards 2023, if you would like to be a part of the team please come along to our next meeting on Monday, 21st November in the room next to the office. All parents are welcome and you would be joining in with an awesome group of people!

CHEESE TOASTIE'/DONUT DAY: Monday 5^th December 2022

Historically in Term 4 the P&F usually hold a 'cheese and bacon roll' day instead of the Sausage sizzle.

This year we have decided to try something different and the 'Cheer Cheese Toastie truck' will be visiting St Peters on Monday, 5^th December.

You will be able to order your child's lunch via flexischools or a form provided just as we usually do with the Sausage Sizzle. Orders open today, Monday, 7th November via FlexiScools and close at 5.00pm Wednesday, 16th November. An Order Form has been emailed to all families this afternoon and can also be downloaded below.

Along with the 'Cheese Toastie' you will be able to order a small iced donut and Zooper Dooper.

There will also be a Gluten Free option.

We will be putting a call out for volunteers to help on this day shortly.

The Second Hand Uniform Shop will be held every second Thursday 3.00pm -3.45pm for the rest of the term, dates as follows.
