With a new employee agreement coming into place for Catholic SAtaff in 2023 there are changes to the amount of time teachers are face to face with students. After discussing it with staff and our School Advisory Council we need to bring us into line with the requirements of this new agreement and into line with other schools. We will be doing this by altering our start and finish times at St Peter’s by a total of ten minutes. Five minutes at the beginning of the school day and five minutes at the end of the school day.
- From the beginning of 2023 students will enter their classrooms at 8:50am (currently 8:45am) and finish the school day at 3:20pm (currently 3:25pm)
- School gates will open at 8:30am and gates on Florence Street and Kaniva Court will close at 3:40pm.
- Staff will continue to supervise students between 8:30am and 8:50am and from 3:20pm until students are picked up.
- OSHC will continue to operate until the school day starts and from the end of the school day.

NEW TEACHERS IN 2023
I am very excited to welcome the following teachers to St Peter’s.
Hyein Kang has accepted an ongoing position at St Peter’s. Prior to joining us in 1GP mid Term Three Hyein taught at a local Primary School in the middle school having graduated from Melbourne University in 2017.
Laura Mason will be joining us having taught at Galilee Primary School, South Melbourne since she graduated from ACU in 2018. She has taught in Year Three and Year Five at Galilee.
Alyssa Marrone has graduated from ACU this year having completed placements in Foundation, Year Three and Year Five / Six
Mimi Hunter has graduated from ACU this year having completed placements in Early Years, Year One and Year Six.
Hannah Uehara has graduated from ACU this year having completed placements in Foundation, Year Three / Four, Year Four and Year Five / Six
I look forward to all they will bring to St Peter’s. Thank you to Chris Joplin, Louise Van Corler and Justin McCarthy for supporting me in the interview processes.
PARKING IN FLORENCE STREET
If you choose to park in Florence Street please remember that the parking limits require you to stay in your car. If you are out of your car for more than two minutes you are liable to receive a parking ticket. Double parking also puts you at risk of a police fine. A number of neighbours and parents have expressed their concern and they are right to be concerned as it places the safety of our children at risk.
MEET THE TEACHER
Students in Foundation to Year Five will meet their 2023 teacher on Tuesday, 13th December. On this day students wear casual clothes so any new students to St Peter’s do not stand out. There is no charge for this day.
Hi everyone,
My name is Jesse Downes and I am in Year 6 here at St Peter’s. I am taking part in the World's Greatest Shave to raise money for Leukaemia research.
Please sponsor me to give families facing blood cancer the emotional and practical support they need. You'll also fund vital research to help more people survive blood cancers, while improving their quality of life. I will be shaving my head at the school assembly this Friday.
Hopefully giving my hair enough time to grow back before starting high school!

Camp Anglesea Reflection
Day 1
On the first day we left our stuff, our big bags and sleeping bags, under the bus and all of Year 6 set out for the Narana Aboriginal Centre, where we ate our snack and learned about different unique Aborginal tools and how they used them efficiently. We also got to see some interesting animals and throw boomerangs.
Afterwards we were driven to Camp Anglesea and ate lunch. We were told who was in our cabins and activity groups. There were six activity groups in total, so six fun activities to try.
The first activity was Radio Roadgame. We had to find yellow sheets around the camp with letters and numbers on them. Using a walkie talkie, we told the instructors which ones we found, using the phonetic alphabet for each letter. We were split into groups.
The second activity was Skateboarding. We learned how to use a skateboard and do cool tricks on it. At the end of the lesson we had to pass a small ramp. During the entire time we could ring a bell, and we could try to go over a larger ramp. If we did then we could write our names on one of the walls.
The third activity was Mountain Biking where we cycled over a track and learned how to use different gears. Later we went on the track to cycle through the whole camp, going through many puddles and bumps along the way.
The fourth activity was a Vertical Challenge and there was a tall tower of obstacles that we had to traverse. In order from bottom to top, there was a wobbly ladder, a long string of net, two pillars of tires, and two short rock-climbs. The rest of the group had to pull the rope so that the climbers could keep going. When they were ready to drop, they would tell them and the people holding the rope would slowly let go and the climber would drop down.
The fifth activity was Canoeing, involving a walk to the beach. Once you reach the beach, you have to put on a life jacket and helmet. You enter the canoes in groups of three and go through the long river. Initiatives, the sixth activity, is also located at the beach. There were different challenges for different groups, but some of them include using pipes to roll a ball into a bucket without it hitting the ground, finding the correct way through a maze of sixteen hoops and getting ten nails to balance on top of a singular nail.
As soon as they finished the briefing, we started our activities. Each group did two activities, with some afternoon tea in between. Next we showered and had dinner, which was salad, pasta and some crunchy garlic bread. The dessert was a chocolate moose. We brushed our teeth and soon it was time for the night walk by bring our flashlights. At the end of it we sang the “Banana Song” to lift everybody’s spirits. Before we knew it, it was time to go to bed.
Day 2
The next day we woke up and had breakfast, which was a choice of cereal or toast with different spreads. Again, we brushed our teeth and did two activities with another morning tea in between. We had lunch which was a burger with meat, cheese and a choice of vegetables inside.
A quick break later and we did two more activities and afternoon tea. We then showered, ate dinner which included buttered chicken with bread and salad. The dessert was ice-cream with chocolate topping.
Everybody got prepared for bowling and the bus took us to the bowling alley. It was fun and full of competitiveness. Afterwards, it was time to go to bed knowing that tomorrow would be the last day of camp.
Day 3
After waking up we had twenty minutes to pack our things and leave them outside. Breakfast was the same as Day 2. Knowing that we wouldn’t return to our cabins, we set off for the beach to the beach carnival.
Each team chose a colour out of white, green, blue, red, orange and yellow. The green team had named themselves Shrek. During the walk to the beach we had to create a chant for our team.
At the beach we competed in games to increase our points to win. The initial games included races with obstacles, solving riddles and tug of war. Then all the groups were split into different groups. There was a rotation with many games like digging in the sand for a ball, scooping water with a cup and throwing frisbees into hoops.
The winners were announced when we were eating lunch, which was another burger. Blue came third, Shrek/Green came second and White came first. White got to write their team name on a trophy and it was time to head back to St Peter’s on a bus.
After taking our things out from under the bus, we headed home. Camp was over.
A big thank you to our teachers and the staff at Anglesea Camp. We had an Amazing time!!
